Esports
Esports (also known as electronic sports) turns gaming into a spectator sport. It mimics the experience of watching professional sports with video gamers competing against each other. It brings joy to the fans, while allowing the competitors to showcase their talent.
This phenomenon started in 1972 with the ‘Intergalactic Spacewar Olympics’ and has been continually growing since. One of the biggest esport competitions nowadays is the Fortnite world cup which pools together a US$30million prize against various competitions.
‘Fastest Kid on the Block.chain’ is an esport where students showcase how well they know their way around the blockchain. There are classroom sessions that will teach them how to code. These are taught with the help of our content partners. The students have the opportunity to master web3 skills in the classroom during regular school hours . The goal is that they gain confidence around the web3 space and understand the importance of security.
Title 1 DAO
Our decentralized autonomous organization serves Title 1 school districts and their teenagers who aspire to receive employment offers or internships in the web3 industries upon graduation from high school.
In the US, Title 1 schools are those in which children from low-income families make up at least 40% of enrollment. They receive funding from the government with the goal to accelerate academic achievements so that children are able to meet both state and federal standards of performance.
Teenagers now have the opportunity to learn how to become a technology professional, through Title 1 DAO and its Esport competitions including ‘Fastest Kid on the Block.chain.’ Within one to three years time, a teenager is capable of gaining the skills and experience necessary to be hired in web3.
Title 1 DAO is building income share agreements with work certifications on the blockchain. In our model, 1% of a Title 1 graduates’ income will be reinvested back into their classroom so that future Title 1 students may benefit from the path that they design and create to own their future.
Genesis Classrooms
Although Title 1 DAO serves all teenagers (ages 13-19), we are focused on our 3-year training curriculum for sophomores, juniors, and seniors in high school.
University blockchain clubs, like ‘Tech For Change’ at Howard University are working with us to develop the developers of the future… teenagers in our own communities. Kendal and Justin who operate Tech For Change, joined us on July 5, 2022 to teach youth the difference between a centralized and decentralized password management system.
Dustin, from our team, has 15 years of experience working with entrepreneurship and education non-profits such as NFTE and BUILD.
Since blockchain is relatively new, we’ve adopted an entrepreneurial cadence to iterating on the curriculum we teach. In the near future, we’ll continue to focus on teaching teenagers on or near HBCU campuses.
Title 1 DAO is proud to have worked with Howard University Middle School of Mathematics and Science, led by NASSP Digital Principal of the Year, Kathryn Procope. She has changed how children learn by providing blended learning opportunities with online enrichment, while still having a focus on socially responsive pedagogy.
